FLAT BUSH SCHOOL ROAD
PEDESTRIAN FOOTBRIDGE
2021
To improve pedestrian safety on Flat Bush School Road, Auckland Transport proposed to install a new dedicated pedestrian bridge with footpath connections between Koropa Road and Rashni Road in Flat Bush. Auckland Transport commissioned TES to undertake a safety review of the bridge and its specifications as well as undertaking of the civil design of the adjacent connections leading to the bridge.
This project was complex and TES was challenged with delivering a multi-disciplinary investigation including on-road stormwater drainage improvements, road widening with kerb cutbacks, embankment reshaping, roadway and dedicated pathway lighting as well as arboricultural services over the 150m length of road. This ensured a successful outcome that was well received by Auckland Transport and its stakeholders. The improvements allowed school children to safely commute to and from the nearby school, whilst improving pedestrian amenity in the area.
