CYCLE STUDIES

TES has investigated and prepared plans for cycle lanes that have been installed throughout Auckland, including recent examples along Ian McKinnon Drive and Tamaki Drive.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION

The preparation and delivery of public consultation letters and plans. Analysis of public consultation feedback and preparation of reports. Attendance and presentations at public meetings and community board meetings. Public/stakeholder presentations and workshops.

BUS LANE / TRANSIT LANE INVESTIGATIONS

Bus lanes throughout Auckland have been designed by TES, and TES is currently designing several bus lane projects for Auckland Transport.

LOCAL AREA TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

TES has investigated and prepared concept to construction plans for various types of traffic calming measures installed throughout Auckland.  These have included humps, cushions, platforms, chicanes, slow points, gateways, road narrowings and raised islands.

PARKING INVESTIGATIONS

We have undertaken parking planning studies, car park layout design, parking supply and demand analysis, parking feasibility analysis, parking policy, driveway access layout, ramp design, and accessway alignment.

SAFETY AUDITS

TES is a preferred supplier to Auckland Transport for providing road safety audits.  Our experience includes safety audits over a wide range of projects, including intersection upgrades, route realignments, bus lanes, cycle lanes, and minor safety works. These safety audits are performed for councils and private developers, and range from Stage 1 (feasibility) to Stage 4 (post-construction) audits, and follow the recommendations of the NZTA Safety Audit Manual.

PRIORITY CONTROL JUNCTION

TES has investigated and prepared concept to construction plans for various types of traffic calming measures installed throughout Auckland.  These have included humps, cushions, platforms, chicanes, slow points, gateways, road narrowings and raised islands.

TRAFFIC IMPACT / INTEGRATED TRANSPORT ASSESSMENTS

We have undertaken parking planning studies, car park layout design, parking supply and demand analysis, parking feasibility analysis, parking policy, driveway access layout, ramp design, and accessway alignment.

TRAFFIC RESOLUTIONS AND PLANS

TES is a preferred supplier to Auckland Transport for providing road safety audits.  Our experience includes safety audits over a wide range of projects, including intersection upgrades, route realignments, bus lanes, cycle lanes, and minor safety works. These safety audits are performed for councils and private developers, and range from Stage 1 (feasibility) to Stage 4 (post-construction) audits, and follow the recommendations of the NZTA Safety Audit Manual.

MINOR SAFETY INVESTIGATIONS

TES has undertaken Minor Safety Investigations for hundreds of projects for several Councils in the Auckland region.

PEER REVIEWS

We are frequently asked to undertake peer reviews of feasibility, scheme and construction plans prepared by other consultants. Also, we undertake peer reviews of scheme assessment reports, crash investigations, intersection upgrades, route studies, economic analysis, and all other traffic and transportation related reports.

PEDESTRIANS STUDIES

Pedestrian planning studies, safety investigations and amenity reviews for many different councils in the Auckland region have been undertaken by TES staff. These studies include a review of pedestrian facilities at Auckland Airport, a pedestrian safety investigation at the Viaduct Basin, pedestrian improvements at 15 sites in Sylvia Park, and pedestrian facility improvements along Ian McKinnon Drive. New or realigned footpaths are sometimes recommended as a result of pedestrian facility investigations, pedestrian safety studies and walking school bus initiatives, with pedestrian safety being paramount.

CONCEPT, SCHEME, CONSTRUCTION - REPORTING AND DESIGN

CAD concept, scheme and construction plans are prepared for most design projects. TES understands that producing accurate high quality plans increases the likelihood of a successful design solution and outcome. The plans prepared by TES vary from the installation of individual signs to multi-million dollar intersection upgrades involving land-take. Detailed design often includes reporting, cost schedules, and resolutions, which TES can prepare. Also, TES arranges topographical surveying services.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL DESIGN

TES staff have produced feasibility studies, scheme plans and construction plans for signalised intersection designs for various councils and Auckland Transport. These projects have varied from kerb realignments and minor traffic signal improvements, to new midblock signals, new signalised intersections, and major intersection upgrades.

ROUNDABOUTS

TES staff have undertaken the modelling, analysis and design of single lane and multi-lane roundabouts throughout New Zealand and overseas. Such projects have included a triple lane roundabout at Mt. Wellington, and the Palomino Road/Sturges Road Cycle Roundabout. Also, TES staff have designed several multi-lane roundabouts for a billion dollar hospital development in Qatar, and have researched, designed and implemented several innovative 'Cycle' roundabouts, in association with NZTA research.

STUDIES

CRASH REDUCTION STUDIES

Since 1998 to-date TES staff have been involved in setting up crash study programs and undertaking crash investigations throughout Auckland and the surrounds, in order to create safer road transport networks. Our team members have studied well over 500 intersection black spots and 50 crash routes for city councils throughout the Auckland region, making us a leading consultant in New Zealand for crash investigations.  We are a preferred supplier of such services to Auckland Transport, and implemented several CRS investigations during 2015.  Also, we have undertaken several Crash Monitoring studies of recently installed works, in order to monitor on-going performance and crash savings. These studies demonstrate great success in achieving reduction in reported crashes. To download a recent example of crash savings at a site,  CLICK HERE

NZTA RESEARCH PROJECTS
