Flexible Roadside Barriers and Guardrails

Deaths on our roads stem primarily from loss of control crashes on our roads. According to Waka Kotahi NZTA, when fitted along the centre and sides of a road, flexible roadside safety barriers and guardrails can:

  • Reduce the number of people killed by up to 90%

  • Reduce the number of motorcycle deaths and injuries by up to 50%

  • Flexi barriers flex on impact to absorb impact, slow down the vehicle, and keep them upright

  • The flexi barriers and guardrails are narrow, and work best on corners and long straights, without sacrificing road width for farm vehicles, cyclists or pull over areas

  • Barriers along the centre of the road can help stop head-on crashes, which can have the highest mortality and serious injury rates.
